About the Department
The Department was established in 1988. The department has made rapid strides in academic progress since inception with highly motivated students and well-qualified faculty members. The B.Tech ECE program is accredited by NBA. The research scholars in the department actively work in diverse emerging areas like VLSI, Digital Image Processing, Networking, IoT, Communication Networks, Quantum Computing,. The department is equipped with the state-of-the-art technology lab that includes a Centre of Excellence in IoT.
The department has always been proactive in organizing a variety of events that includes national and international conferences, workshops, FDPs and seminars. The department receives funds from government bodies for the conduction of seminars, STTPs and the like. A Funded Project on Antenna Design sanctioned by CABS-DRDO is in progress.
The students of the department hone their knowledge and technical expertise through successful participation in NPTEL courses. Through the spur motivation by the faculty members, students have participated and played a part in copious international competitions, forums and stages. The department has international collaborations with Asia University in Taiwan, Sheffield Hallam University in UK, Taipei Medical University in Taipei, Huaiyun Institute of Technology in China and Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Malaysia wherein the students underwent short-term projects in IoT, AI, ML and Embedded domains. The department has MoUs with BSNL, NITTTR, IITPALS, IGL by which the students are provided with skill based industrial training.
The department boasts a good number of publications in international journals and conferences with an appreciable H-index. The faculty members have authored books in various disciplines and also filed many patents.

Engineering graduates will be able to:
- PO-1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- PO-2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
- PO-3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
- PO-4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
- PO-5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
- PO-6 The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
- PO-7 Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
- PO-8 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
- PO-9 Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
- PO-10 Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
- PO-11 Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

Upon the completion of program, graduates will be able to

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering since its inception in the year 1988 is one of the most sought-after departments in our institution and the department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for its quality education. The main objective of the department is to impart strong fundamental concepts in ECE that helps students easily adapt themselves to rapid changes in emerging technologies. The department has played a pivotal role in transforming the students to successful engineers by enlightening them with required skill sets.
Subsequently, in line with the technical advancements, the PG programme in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems was introduced. The department also has active research scholars working on potential research areas.
The department has well-qualified faculty members who have made significant contribution towards funding proposals, patent publications and research paper publication in reputed journals, international and national conferences. The department has received support from DRDO- CABS in carrying out sponsored research on Design of antenna array with compatible radome for marine pollution detection.
The department is equipped with state of the art laboratories which provide practical exposure necessary for employability, entrepreneurship and also for pursuing higher studies. It is indeed a pleasure to see the progress in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering at a time when our nation is moving ahead with significant development plans towards Digital India which provides ample placement opportunities in various domains of ECE.
The curriculum is designed accordingly to cater industry and societal needs. The department has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with reputed organizations to facilitate academic and research collaboration to improve the quality of professional education. Faculty members and students are part of widely recognized professional society bodies such as the IEEE, IETE, IE(I) and ISTE. The department has formed an association named ECOMET through which various technical events are organized for the students to get updated. With recent technologies, I am confident that the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering will continue to strive hard in discovering the full potential of a student and make a noteworthy mark in their professional life as well as contribute towards the betterment of society.
